Your Wedding Day Timeline -
w. Bonus Planning Template
October 6th, 2022 - 2 minute read
Planning a wedding is HARD! It's something you haven't done before, you'll probably never do it again and you just want everyone to have a good time! The key is planning out your day into a well through timeline.
There are two types of wedding day timelines:
•A spring / summer wedding timeline.
•An autumn / winter wedding timeline.
The reason? You need to plan your wedding around golden hour!
You may have heard of it before - and not to get too photography technical on you - but this is the best time of day for photos. The sun is lower in the sky, meaning that the light is softer and the colours are warmer.
What does this mean for brides and grooms = epic wedding photos! See below:
In order to do this work out which timeline is best for you and your wedding day, you need to answer a few simple questions:
•Is your wedding in
spring/summer or autumn/ winter?
•How big is your bridal party and how many people do you have coming to the wedding?
From there, all you need to do is work backwards.
So, what does this look like when planning your Wedding?
Spring / Summer Wedding Timeline 🌞🌻
• Longer days, meaning that golden hour is later.
• Later start to the day.
• Golden hour is anywhere between 6:30pm and 7:45pm (as a general rule).
Autumn / Winter Wedding Timeline 🍂🍁
• Shorter days, meaning that golden hour is earlier.
• An earlier start to the day.
• Golden hour is anywhere between 3:30pm and 4:45pm (as a general rule).
What should also be noted is the advantage of planning and saving time. For example, a well thought wedding day timeline (and plan) around golden hour might allow you to only spend 40 minutes taking family photos where it might take you 2 hours without one.
The day isn't all about taking photos, it's about spending time with your one true love and celebrating with your friends and family.
